Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival was marked in Xiangying township, northwestern Beijing's Yanqing district, on September 23.
Local farmers displayed their agricultural products featuring corns, Chinese crabapples, apples, watermelons and quinoa. This year, the township embraces a harvest of 50,000 kilos of Chinese crabapples, which are crispy, sweet and sour and high in vitamin C, calcium, iron and selenium.
The species of Chinese crabapples in Xiangying was cultivated and developed by Zhou Shunhai, a local farmer and an expert in agriculture, and was ranked as China's top ten crop germplasm resources.
